This fall, Oregon voters will decide whether or not to add the gun control laws as proposed in Initiative 114. In this episode of the podcast of the City Club of Eugene, we hear from a supporter and opponent of the initiative.

Should Lane County Be Renamed?

Lane County is named for Oregon's first territorial governor, Joseph Lane. However, the county was the home of the Kalapuya people for 16,000 years. Should Lane County's name be changed to Kalapuya County? Are there other ways to honor the indigenous people of this area?

Speakers include Dr. Douglas Card, retired University of Oregon sociology professor; Dr. David Lewis, Oregon State University ethnohistorian/professor, Kalapuyan descendant and member of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde; and Dr. Richard Pettigrew, archeologist and director of the Archeological Legacy Institute.

The Magic of TrackTown USA

Eugene, Oregon is nicknamed Track Town USA because of its many running and field events. The town honors the legacy of Steve Prefontaine, past and present coaches, and the many track and field athletes - and ordinary runners - who participate.
